Expense Claims - Walk Recce

If you lead a walk, starting from 1st May 2024, you are able to claim mileage expenses for carrying out the walk recce (not the walk itself). The expenses are claimable for the return journey from your house to the start point of the walk. The mileage allowance is 45p per mile. Repeat recces are not generally allowed unless a long time has elapsed or there are other circumstances that demand a new recce.

To claim, please submit your mileage expenses on this Downloaded Ramblers Volunteer Claim Form.

The expenses claim should cover the walks you lead over a 3-month period and be submitted on or before the last day of each quarter, which are 30th June, 30th September, 31st December and 31st March.

Please do not claim separately for each walk you lead. Once filled in, the form should be converted to a pdf, signed and dated and emailed to Mike Jefferey at Mike Jefferey

It is suggested you keep a master copy claim form with your name, membership number and bank details and then use this as a template when you wish to submit a claim.
